Location
The symposium will be held at Grand Hotel on Mackinac
Island, Michigan. The island lies in the Straits of
Mackinac between Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas.
|
For over
a century, Mackinac Island and the Grand Hotel have
been - and still are - some of America's finest examples
of tradition. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the
Island; all transportation is provided by horse and
carriage or bicycle. Mackinac Island is located approximately
280 miles north of Detroit and 390 miles from Chicago.
It is accessible by car, boat or plane. Ferry service
to the Island is available from Mackinaw City, the northernmost
point in the Lower Peninsula, or St. Ignace, across
the Mackinac Bridge in the Upper Peninsula. Air service
is available to Pellston, Michigan, approximately 12
miles south of Mackinaw City, from both Detroit Metro,
Chicago O'Hare and Minneapolis Airports. |
